version issue? - using NetDiagram -w Flowchart.Net

Hey,

I'm having an issue with mindfusion. We have a program using Flowchart.net to creates and manipulates the diagrams, then we have a web interface to view the diagrams - using NetDiagram.

All was working fine until we rolled out an update for our windows (flowchart.net) program which included a mindfusion update. Now any chart saved with the new update won't open in netdiagram (those saved earlier work fine).

Just wondering if you've had any issues with this?

Netdiagram version:
MindFusion.Diagramming.dll - v5.6.0.17394

Flowchart.net old (working) version:
MindFusion.Diagramming.dll - v5.5.0.25291

Flowchart.net updated (not working) version:
MindFusion.Diagramming.dll - v5.6.2.23409

I can't seem to find an update for NetDiagram, just wondering if you guys have run into this before?

Thanks for your help
Dan

Also let me know if you need anymore info.

Hi,

We update the binary file format with each release to include new fields and structures. Newer versions of the control can load files saved by older versions, but not the other way around. You could try using XML format until we release a new Netdiagram version - usually the new XML elements are just ignored.

We'll release a new NetDiagram version next month. I can send you a stable pre-release build if you let me know what .NET version you need it for.

That would be awesome.

.NET Version 3.5

Also. When you switch to XML diagrams rather than binary saved diagrams, do you lose any functionality, features, or advantages etc? We might decide to make the switch...we've been using the binary ones for several years now.

You can find a download link on the private messages page.

You don't lose anything by using the XML format. On the positive side, it is better for interoperability; you can load XML files into our controls for other platforms, or read some data from them without using the diagram library. On the negative side, XML files are slower to save and load, and I suppose it will be a bother to convert all your users files to another format.

I hope that helps,
Stoyan
