Node snapping to another node

Hello, i was wondering to anyone has ever tried or know of a way to get a shape node to snap together to another node without using links? I am trying to create a specific diagram that would require to node to touch and allow or deny placement(above or below in a vertical line) based on what other nodes  are present.

Hi,

Nodes will snap to each other's horizontal/vertical coordinates if you enable the AutoAlignNodes property. You might try combining this with QueryAlignTarget and NodeModifying event handlers to deny placement at some positions.

I hope that helps,
Stoyan
