Hi I thought I posted this but can't find the post anywhere so posting again.

What is a good way to support accented characters?

Is it possible to something similar to what the iPad does, which is long press the base characters to popup the accented characters?

Hi,

There's no support for hold-gesture popups at this time. We'll have it in mind for next release.

Users can type accented characters by first pressing the ` symbol before the vowel - at least in languages that Windows support that for.

Other than that, maybe you could implement a custom key class for accents and umlauts, showing `/" labels. Its Send override could either switch to a new keyboard layout displaying only accented characters, or show the layout in a mini-keyboard instance popping up above the accents key.
