Picture dimensions change after export to Visio

Lets assume I have a transparent box (46, 46), with white as the framecolor. Now I put a picture inside it with Box.LoadPicture.

So the actual box is not shown, just the picture inside it.

Now I export the whole thing to Visio. I notice that the picture in the Visio drawing is slightly disformed because the height (and I think the width as well) are changed.

When the import takes place, obviously it looks a bit different.  Is it possible to make the pictures not loose their original dimensions?

Another thing, If I use the same (original) box, and resize it to 200x200, with the picture centered (thus not resized) and export it to Visio, the picture is resized to the new box dimensions (200x200).

Is it possible to leave the picture at its original dimensions?

One more note, when the box is set to BoxStyle = bsShape, the pictures inside are not rotated when the box is rotated.

Hi,

Visio cannot display images inside shapes as far as we know, but supports rectangular Picture objects (insert\picture menu item). If the exporter sees a Picture assigned to a box, it does not create a Visio shape for that box but creates a Picture object whose dimensions are the same as the bounding rectangle of the box. The PicturePos is not considered in that case.

You might get better results when exporting by creating a group of a shape box and a picture box in FlowChartX. Then in Visio both the shape and the image should be visible and the image should have correct size.

I just went over Visio 2003 a couple of hours ago and have come to the same conclusion as you have.. no pictures inside shapes. Wierd isnt it?

If the PicturePos property would be set to picFit or picStretch I could understand that it would be sized to the box bounderies.

But in case of picCenter I think it would be better behaviour to not touch the dimensions of the picture.

We will add an ExportImagesAsGroups property that will create a Visio group of a shape and a Picture for each Box that displays an image, preserving the PicturePos alignment. A client requested this feature just last week for the Flowchart.NET to Visio exporter, so I guess it will a popular one  8)

Nice! I assume that this feature will also be implemented in the non .NET version?
