A nicer way of arranging arrows?

Is there a way to "consolidate" the path a process takes in a workflow?

What I mean with this: take a look at http://www.quixa.com/pix/popups/designer.gif

Do you see how the arrows are interconnected? This results in a more clear view/layout of the flow as a whole.

Is there something to get similar results with FlowChartX?

Hi,

That looks like an all-round layout of both nodes and arrows. You might try using the GridLayout with specific start and end nodes, then move the start and end nodes to the left and right and arrange the arrow points to consolidate them. As I see it, all arrows on the screenshot have either one or three segments. Set the arrow.Segments property to 1 or 3 depending on the node positions and then use CtrlPtX/Y to set the arrow's point coordinates.

I hope that helps,

But this way the arrows would be alligned on top of each other? Thus moving a segment point only one arrow line would be moved? Sounds complicated but thanks for the tip.

When I look at the screenshot they actually split the arrow line automatically if another arrow is added which uses (partially) the same path to a node.

Maybe this would be a nice new feature? Grin

You could put tiny boxes where the little circles are visible in that screenshot, then draw one-segment arrows between the circles and the icon boxes. Also try setting the arrow styles to HRigid or VRigid depending on whether they are horizontal or vertical - so when you move one box, all other boxes and arrows in the HRigid/VRigid chain will move too.

Sounds cool. Ill will try it, but for the moment the default will do.

I should plan a little play time in this project Grin
