FlowChart.NET under 64-bit Windows

We have got quite a few inquiries about that recently - when placing the control on a form under WinXP x64 or Win2k3 x64, there is a kind of 'cannot find a design-time license' message displayed.

The problem seems to come from the two versions of the Win64 registry - there is one partition for 64 bit applications and another partition for 32 bit applications. The MSI installer copies the design time license key into the 32 bit registry, but when the flowchart.dll loads it uses the 64bit .NET runtime and looks for the key in the 64 bit registry.

If anyone needs to use the control in design-time under 64-bit Windows versions, simply copy this key and its values

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MindFusion Limited\ComponentLicenses

to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MindFusion Limited\ComponentLicenses

and the control should work fine.

In the next version we will update the installer or the control itself so FlowChart.NET loads fine out-of-the-box under Win x64.
