overview control

Hi,

I've just started evaluating JDiagram. I know the ActiveX version (which is great!) and it has an overview control. Will JDiagram provide such a control too?
This is a very important and useful feature.

Thanks!

Yael.

Hi,

We can port the Overview control for the next JDiagram release. If you can wait for a while, we will upload a preview version here in a few days.

That would be great!

Also - what's the estimated date of the next JDiagram release?

We haven't scheduled any fixed date, but we try to release updates every couple of months.

The Overview should be ready by the end of this week. I will post the download link here.

It's ready, sorry we forgot to upload the preview version. I will post the link later today once our developers build the jar file.

This is our daily build of the control and a sample application that our developer uses to test the overview:

We haven't tested the new version much yet, and it might not be very stable.

Hi,

The JDiagTestFrame class contains references to files at drive D and therefore I get "FileNotFound" Exceptions.
Can you please send me an updated version ASAP?

Thanks!

Yael.

Hi,

We use this project to test many features of JDiagram, and not just the Overview. Aren't the files accessed only from some menu commands? If there is a file loaded while the application opens, comment out the corresponding line, or make it open a file from your local JDiagram Demo sample folder.

I can see in the example that the overview control does not show the whole diagram. I have to resize it (make it bigger) to be able to see all the layout. But then this control becomes to big and we miss the point.
I would have expected this control to accomodate the size of the nodes it presents to ensure that it always presents all the layout.

Have you tried the FitAll mode? There is a command in the test project Overview menu that enables it. The method you need to call in your application is Overview.setFitAll(true). FitAll does not actually accomodate the size of all nodes, but the document size that is set through setDocBounds() or resizeToFitItems().

Yes! That looks better!

When do you expect to have a stable version? We'd like to include it in our product soon (if possibile, in 3-6 weeks from now).

We are just releasing our ASP.NET control, which uses JDiagram's applet on the front-end. We'll release JDiagram immediately after that, I guess in the beginning of May.

Hi,

What is the status of the Overview feature? Is it supposed to be in one of the following builds?

Thanks,
Yoav
