Box has a inline text edit and can accommodate as many characters typed. While one of the examples available does show the word wrapping feature, i was curious to know if the text can go beyond the size of  the box.

Currently, it hides the text when the length goes beyond what the box can hold.

You could create a custom shape definition whose text area is larger than 100x100. Point coordinates in shape definitions are defined as percent of the box size, so 100x100 makes the text fit inside the box, and for example 100x200 would let the text flow below the box using twice its height.

I tried to increase the text area of the box and put some large text flowing outside the box.
When the box is moved around, the canvas does not repaint the text properly, it hides some portion of the text and is erratic in displaying the text.

Yes, actually only the .NET code included the text area in the region being invalidated while modifying an item. Now the Java version does that too, try this update jar:
