NetDiagram 2.0 Java Applet Loading Time

Hi all,

the loading time for the java applet is very long (and we can see the java symbol), some browser refreshs helps. This effect is only by using the internet explorer 7.0.

With firefox no problems, seconds after starting the diagram is on screen!

Any ideas?

Hi,

I can't see much difference when loading the applet on my PC. Do both Firefox and IE use the same Java runtime version on your system? Does the delay happen with an empty chart?

Java Version 1.6.0_05 is installed on both browsers. We tested newly: The problem is that the java loading completely "hangs" ... The chart is not empty. Is there any possibility to force the loading process?

Is there anything shown in the Java console? You can open it from the notification icon in the taskbar.

yes, if the java hangs:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

and after changing the page and loading the applet:

java.lang.InterruptedException
     at java.lang.Object.wait(Native Method)
     at java.lang.Object.wait(Object.java:485)
     at sun.plugin.ClassLoaderInfo.lock(Unknown Source)
     at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
     at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
     at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
     at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I've googled for "at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)" and that seems a common problem with IE7 + the latest Java version Undecided If you are loading any other applets apart from the DiagramView's one, could you check if the exception happens if you remove them? Could you email us your aspx page so that our developer can debug that here? Please also see if there are any parameters specified for the applet viewer in the control panel's Java configuration tool and copy them here.

Hi Stoyan,
the problems are not solved ... sometimes javaapplet is loading fast, mostly is not loading or loading after open and close the browser, change the pages or so.

We have no error messages, the loading is only hanging ....

it seems, that this problem is only if you use a local webserver f.e. on the developer computer. Installed on a separate webserver (w2003) we cannot reproduce this problem.

i send you the files to the support mail address of a testpage build with codecharge 4 from yessoftware.

Hi Chris,

Could you send us the IIS logs from the local server when the problem happens? We tried to open the project in CodeCharge Studio, but it looks for some .ccs file, could you email it to us too?

Hi Chris,

Do you know whether the CodeCharge authentication is based on the ASP.NET's Forms Authentication? I am asking because we still have this problem -

Somehow the Forms Authentication mechanism modifies the HTTP responses returned by the server, the Java plugin does not recognize them, and is not able to load the .jar file. If the CodeCharge login system works in a similar way, try to exclude JDiagram.jar from the authentication system, so it is always unprotected.

Hi Stoyan,

thanks for your help. It seems that the problems are caused by the authentication. We build a startpage with a mini diagram opening before the login was done.

The first tests are positiv. If we load the java applet before login we have no problems with loading later other diagrams.

we hope this is the solution.
