Selection Lags On Drop

I'm experiencing a lag in the selection of a custom UIElement after it's dragged onto the diagram.  The lag takes up to 13 seconds before the item is decorated and then, afterwards, there is no lag on selection; the decoration appears immediately after the selection.

Upon further investigation, the lag seems to be caused by the fact that we have a WindowsFormsHost  tag that contains a windows forms property grid.

I realize this is off topic, but does anyone know why I would see such a lag in initializing the property grid?

Thanks

False alarm. We had the windowshost in a stackpanel. When we removed the stackpanel, the problem went away.

There might be some additional assemblies loaded in that situation, and that causing the lag. You can verify this using the VS output window. If that's the case, you could pre-load the assemblies by instantiating types defined there upon your application startup.
