Is there a way to have links draw "under" the nodes?

Creating an odd tree view and I want all links to anchor in the center of my nodes for various reasons instead of along the edges - I'd like the anchor to be in the center but have the link's line draw "under" the node (i.e. such that it stops at the edge on its way to the center).  Poking around the docs I can't seem to find a way to do this - is there an easy way to go about this?

Set the ZIndex of links to a lower value than the node's one. You will also have to disable SelectionOnTop to prevent the link from popping up when either it or any of its nodes is selected.
