Recurring item, changing the End Date, removes all the exceptions ?

Is it normal behaviour, that if the enddate of a recurring item is changed, that all the exceptions (items) are removed as well ? Isn't it possible to keep the exceptions as they were ?
Thanks,

Changing the recurrence in any way causes all exceptions to be discarded. This is by design. You may try inspecting the Recurrence.Exceptions collection before changing the recurrence pattern, then attempt to restore the exceptions within the new recurrence pattern. However, in the general case the recurrence can change so dramatically that the previous exceptions are no longer meaningful within the new pattern.
