Can specific keys be collapsed to save space? I don't need the F keys, for instance.

There's no auto-collapse feature available like 'hide this row of keys'. You could delete unnecessary keys in Keyboard Creator tool, rearrange remaining keys and save a custom layout file. Later load the file by setting virtualKeyboard.TemplateLayout = KeyboardLayout.Create(... file name or resource stream ...);
