large PDF exports crashing adobe reader

Hello,

We have an application that is design's diagrams and has the ability to export to PDF, but with the larger diagrams that have a large number of features, the PDF cannot be opened in Adobe Reader (all acrobat reader versions seem to have similar issues)

The size of the PDF is not that large, around 9 MB, and I can definately open much larger PDFs that are exported from other applications in Adobe reader. Do you have any idea how we might resolve this problem?

Hi,

If you are using the DiagramSize option for PageSize, you will have to change it to enable pagination. Recent versions of Adobe's reader cannot open very large PDF pages, even if they contain only one text string:

If you are getting this problem with enabled pagination, please attach a saved diagram that reproduces it.

Thanks for your reply.

I have ensured that the page size is set to A1 and not the diagramsize and the issue persists.  I have confirms that acrobat reader can open files of this size as ArcMap produces this page size PDFs that open in the same reader successully.

my zipped save file is too large to attach as the max attachment size is apparently only 250k.

Zipped, the file is 1.2 Megs.

Also, my diagram contains custom objects. Will that be a problem? If so, do you know of a way I can easily create a save that does not depend on the custom objects?

Hi,

If you mean custom Tag or Id objects, save the diagram to Xml and we'll still be able to load it. If you are using custom node or link classes, you will also have to send us their code. Please email the saved file, exported PDF and any code to support@mindfusion.eu.
