Diagramming for ASP.NET, V5.0.5

MindFusion has just released a new version of Diagramming for ASP.NET programming component. Below is a list of the improvements we have made to the component:

Canvas mode improvements

  • RoundedLinks and RoundedLinksRadius properties are now supported in Canvas mode.
  • LinkCrossings and CrossingRadius properties are now supported in Canvas mode.
  • Behavior.Pan is now supported in Canvas mode.

Visio2013Importer improvements

  • The Item argument of ImportItem event handlers is now pre-set to a DiagramItem instance created for the imported Visio shape, letting you avoid parsing some standard data such as Bounds or Text. You can either modify this item’s properties, or replace it with a new instance of a different type.
  • a few bugs have been fixed

Resize of multiple nodes

Now you can resize multiple selected nodes simultaneously – just set the AllowMultipleResize property to true. When enabled, dragging a corner or any side adjustment handle of a node, resizes all nodes in the selection.

Visio2013Importer improvements

  • The Item argument of ImportItem event handlers is now pre-set to a DiagramItem instance created for the imported Visio shape, letting you avoid parsing some standard data such as Bounds or Text. You can either modify this item’s properties, or replace it with a new instance of a different type.
  • several bugs and crashes have been fixed

Miscellaneous

  • LinkLabels are now copied by the DiagramLink copy constructor and clipboard methods.
  • DiagramView.ZoomFactor setter no longer automatically aligns its value to ZoomControl zoom steps. This avoids imprecise ZoomToFit results.
  • a few API changes have been made.

The new version fixes several bugs and offers improved binary and XML serialization. The new version is not compatible with old binary and XML formats.

Diagramming for Java, V4.0.4

MindFusion has released Diagramming for Java 4.0.4 Here is an overview of the new features:

Import of Visio 2013 files

You can use the new VisioImproter class to import *.vsdx files, created by Visio 2013. In order to use it, you must import the com.mindfusion.diagramming.importers namespace. The Import method has several overloads, which let you choose whether to import the diagram as a single Diagram whose content is merged from all imported pages or as a DiagramDocument whose pages correspond to the Visio pages. At this time VisioImporter supports the basic flowchart and data flow Visio stencils.

Import of OpenOffice Draw files

The new DrawImporter class can import .odg files, created by the OpenOffice Draw vector graphics editor. In order to use it, you must import the com.mindfusion.diagramming.importers namespace. DrawImporter supports shapes from the General and Flowchart shape palettes in Draw. You can choose among several overloads of the Import method to import the OpenOffice drawing into a DiagramDocument whose pages correspond to the Draw pages, or into a single Diagram whose content is merged from all imported pages.

Miscellaneous

  • The AutoSnapToNode property allows links to be snapped to nodes from a distance
  • Use the new RoundedLinks and RoundedLinksRadius properties to draw arcs at the joints of Cascading and Polyline links’ segments.
  • Several new shapes for better compatibility with Visio 2013 basic stencil were added: RightTriangle, Decagon, Trapezoid, Star4Pointed, Star5Pointed, Star6Pointed, Star7Pointed, Star16Pointed, Star24Pointed, Star32Pointed, Donut, Plaque.

The installer can create a toolbox palette in VS2013 for the components and optionally installs VS2013 sample projects.

Import of Visio 2013 files
The new Visio2013Importer class can import *.vsdx files, which were created with Microsoft Visio 2013. The importer requires a reference to the MindFusion.Diagramming.Wpf.VisioImport.dll assembly. You can use the various overloads of the Import method to import the Visio drawing into a DiagramDocument, whose pages correspond to the Visio pages or into a single Diagram, whose content
is merged from all important pages.

Zoom control
The ZoomControl class lets the users change interactively the current zoom level and scroll position of a Diagram or DiagramView. In order to use it, you should add a Zoom control to the window, place it anywhere over the target diagram and set the control’s Target property to that diagram or view. The Zoom control offers numerous customization properties.

Miscellaneous

  • Enable the AllowRenamePages property of TabbedDiagramView to let users rename a DiagramPage interactively by clicking on its tab.
  • Several new shapes added for better compatibility with Visio 2013 basic stencil: RightTriangle, Decagon, Trapezoid, Star4Pointed, Star5Pointed, Star6Pointed, Star7Pointed, Star16Pointed, Star24Pointed, Star32Pointed, Donut, Plaque.

Diagramming for WinForms, V6.1

MindFusion has released a new version of its Diagramming component for WinForms. It contains mostly customer requested features. Here are the details:

Support for Mono

You can use now the Diagramming component under the Mono runtime for OSX or Linux. You don’t have to use a different assembly under Mono – a single version of the mindfusion.* assemblies can be referenced by both Mono and Microsoft .NET applications. The control detects the runtime that has loaded it and provides alternative implementations for features that are currently missing from Mono.

Custom measure units

The type of the Diagram.MeasureUnit property has been changed from System.Drawing.GraphicsUnit enum to MindFusion.Diagramming.MeasureUnit class. This class lets you define custom units by specifying their dots-per inch resolution, a string name, and number of standard divisions for display in the Ruler control.

Shape control points

You can now parameterize Shape formulas by associating control points with Shape objects. Each control point is passed to the shape script as a named variable. Apart from the name, you can specify the default, min and max coordinates for each parameter, and whether to treat its values as percents or fixed offset. Here is an example:
